The Abraaj Group Art Prize is one of the most significant art prizes in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia, organized since 2008. Each year, artists are invited to submit proposals for a major new commission – a 'dream project', to be produced through a $100,000 award and then revealed as part of a group exhibition at Art Dubai. The exhibition also features work by three shortlisted artists.
I had the honour of designing the accompanying two-volume publication, dedicated to the work of the winners and runners-up.
Since the theme of the catalogue revolved around structures and meaning of language, this idea was extended to the design, revealing the structure of the book in terms of layout (grid) and binding. Volume two features a bilingual glossary printed on a bright yellow paper stock.
